Steeltech Sheds is a Galway-based company and Ireland’s largest supplier of outdoor steel solutions including sheds, garages, modular homes, garden offices and many more.

Steeltech Sheds was created initially to solve the issue of the disposal of old steel tanks. At the time, many home-owners in the Galway area were moving away from old and rigid oil steel tanks, to better and cheaper plastic tanks. However, they could not properly dispose of the old steel tanks.
An Opportunity Arises.
As a truck driver and coal deliverer, Sean saw an opportunity to charge a small fee and help home owners get rid of their old steel tanks. This worked really well and the coal deliverers were suddenly left with a LOT of disposable steel tanks.
However, that gave to another opportunity instead!
They now had a lot of material to work with. So with a little welding ingenuity, they decided to cut the the steel tanks and repurpose them into coal bunkers and sell them to home-owners the following year.
This made them a nice small fortune, and they also realised that a lot of their workers preferred working with steel than delivering coal.
That realisation also helped create ANOTHER opportunity.
You see, around that time, the standard of wooden garden sheds was nowhere near the ones you would buy today. Many home-owners in the Galway area were very dissatisfied with their timber sheds – as they would have issues only within weeks after purchase.
And just like that, a gap in the market was spotted – the NEED for a quality backyard shed.
The first steel shed was made and Steeltech Sheds was born.
Aggressive Expansion from 2008.
After starting the business in 1994, Steeltech Sheds opened a showroom in Galway and then Limerick. Business was steady with the 2 showrooms up until the 2007/2008 global housing crisis, which saw a lot businesses close their doors.
While most businesses chose to be more conservative in their risk approach, Steeltech went in the opposite direction and instead acquired a lot of sites nationwide at incredibly great prices.
They were also able to get great prices for many services including marketing. This allowed them to open 12 more showrooms in both Ireland and Northern Ireland since.
